Go up Mount Teide by Cable Car
Enjoy the quickest way to go up Mount Teide.
When you get off the cable car, you will be at an altitude of 3,555 m, and will have various choices on how to take in the stunning views of the largest national park in the Canary Islands.
Choose the viewpoint of La Rambleta to behold the views of the Siete Cañadas and the Ucanca Valley. From here, you can just imagine the enormous size of the old volcano that stood atop the island 150,000 years ago, and which was known as the Cañadas edifice, at a time when Mount Teide did not yet exist. In front of you stretches the Las Cañadas cirque, which has its highest point on Montaña Guajara. These are the remains of a great volcano whose own weight caused it to slide towards the northern coast in no more than a few minutes.
Its remains, millions of tons of volcanic rock, lie scattered over hundreds of kilometres in the depths of the ocean. In the huge tunnel left by the collapse of the volcano, new eruptions began immediately, and began to fill it. One of these eruptions was the origin of Mount Teide.
Over a long period of time, eruption followed eruption, forming the huge volcano from which you are now looking out at the surrounding landscape.
If you prefer to gaze at spectacular views of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma with an impressive crater at your feet, (which once upon a time was a lake of lava), choose the path to the Pico Viejo Viewpoint, another colossal volcano over 3,000 m high, the second highest peak in the archipelago, crowned by a crater 800 m in diameter. Pico Viejo forms part of the same volcanic edifice as Mount Teide, and at its base lie the Narices del Teide [literally: the nostrils of Mount Teide], the two mouths of historic eruptions, including the last one recorded within the bounds of the National Park.
You can take this tour of great scenic and volcanic interest with a guide, by booking the guided tour to the Pico Viejo viewpoint with a cable car ticket included.
Choose the La Fortaleza trail if you’d like to enjoy fantastic views of northern Tenerife: the outstanding valley of La Orotava, with Puerto de la Cruz on the ocean shore, although for most of the year, the valley is shrouded in clouds borne by the trade winds from the north east. As they collide with the island’s northern slopes, these winds rise up, and the moisture carried along by them condenses, until it forms a spectacular sea of cloud, which is vital to sustain Tenerife’s forests. You may also like to take this trail if you want to make your descent via Montaña Blanca.
And if you are one of those people who won’t leave Tenerife without having reached the summit of Mt. Teide, choose the Telesforo Bravo trail to the peak of Teide and shout ‘I am the King of the world’ from an altitude of 3 718 m.
But remember that for the trail that leads to the crater, you will need a special free permit, issued by administration of the Teide National Park, which you must apply for months in advance. Would you like a guide for this option? Read all the information on our ascent to the peak with a cable car ticket.
Use the Teide Cable Car Online Tickets and take advantage of their benefits
Guarantee your seat by purchasing your Mount Teide Cable Car tickets online. You will enjoy tickets with an assigned session. It is as simple as booking a time slot for a specific date. You must show up at the Cable Car boarding area with your Online Ticket, either printed or displayed on your mobile phone, 20 minutes prior to the time specified on your Mount Teide Cable Car ticket in order to redeem it and access the boarding area to board the cabin afterwards.
If you arrive by private vehicle, which you will need to park, we recommend that you show up at the premises of the Cable Car prior to the time indicated on your Mount Teide Cable Car tickets, although we recommend that you avoid driving and choose collective transportation instead because it is important that together we do what we can to counteract overuse of the vehicle parking areas in the National Park. In addition, this represents your personal commitment to reduce greenhouse gases and to the conservation of the National Park. As a conservation measure, they have been kept to a small size, and they cannot be extended.
Which is why we offer you our tour to Mount Teide with cable car tickets included. If you finally arrive by car, it is best that you book your Mount Teide Cable Car tickets for a time slot after 1.00pm.
If for whatever reason you arrive too late for your session, you will lose the right to board.
Tickets + Guided tour to the Pico Viejo viewpoint
Would you like to ascend by cable car and also walk some of the trails with a guide? You got it! By booking this guided tour you will be able to discover all of the volcanic wonders that surround the impressive trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint. Our guide will explain everything to you in Spanish or English.
Please bear in mind that this activity is not suitable for people with mobility problems and children under 5.
Tickets + ‘Teide Legend’ digital audio guide to Teide National Park or physical audio guide to the trails
The perfect option if you’re travelling to Teide with your own vehicle and you prefer to discover the landscape and find out about it under your own steam with the help of our Teide Legend audio guide (available in English, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, Polish and Dutch for download on Android and iOS devices).
The audio guide included in this ticket is actually a full audio-guided tour of Teide National Park.
The Teide Legend audio guide included with your cable car + audio guide ticket is an audio-guided tour to Mount Teide. It reveals the natural and cultural heritage of Tenerife and different points of interest in Teide National Park, depending on the access road you take to reach our facilities.
This audio-guided tour shows you the best viewpoints and hiking trails near the cable car base and top stations, plus restaurants, local shops, cultural centres, etc.
Characters from the “Legend of Guayota” will be your guides on this tour, and you’ll learn about the volcanology, anthropology, and history of the National Park, while you’ll be also introduced to the indigenous Guanches, Tenerife’s earliest inhabitants who worshipped the Teide volcano, and who believed its eruptions to be the expressions of the fury of the gods.
The section on trails at the top station offers detailed and essential information about the three emblematic trails that leave from Teide Cable Car top station and follow different routes across the volcano’s slopes. You can hike the trails at the same time as you learn about the most important and characteristic parts of the volcano.
The audio guide is fun and easy to use! You just need to use the booking code from your cable car + audio guide ticket to quickly and easily download the app and enjoy a complete contactless experience.
Want to know how the audio guide app works? We explain in this video. Follow the instructions to get the most from your visit to Mount Teide.
If you do not have a smartphone, you can receive a physical audio guide. In order to pick it up it is necessary to leave your passport/ID card or a deposit of €50.00 which will be returned to you when you return the audio guide. It’s important to remember that, by choosing this option, you’ll only have the audio guide to the trails at the top station.
Live the Teide Legend at the Teide “Science and Legend” exhibition!
The cable car ticket (except for the ticket for the ascent and the Cable Car at Sunset activity) includes free admission to the “Science and Legend” exhibition, which you will find at the Teide Cable Car Visitors’ Centre.
You will learn about Mount Teide’s last major eruption (around 1,000 years ago) which the indigenous Guanches probably interpreted as a fight between mythological deities—an explanation far removed from that which science now attributes to volcanic eruptions.
The characters of the legend of Guayota, both gods and humans, will show you their vision of the stages of the eruption that took place back then, and which formed the pylon at the summit of Mount Teide, known locally as “el tapón del Teide” [the Teide cap]. A magical story in which good and evil join in an epic battle. Along with the legend, you will be shown reliable data to illustrate the scientific interpretation of the eruption. Although the two perspectives may seem diametrically opposed, they are in fact closely connected.
In addition, you can have a great time at our Visitors’ Centre, where you can find brilliant mementoes of your visit to the legend of the Teide National Park at our official souvenir shop. And you can relax and enjoy a culinary experience with panoramic views of the National Park in Spain’s highest restaurant and snack bar, whose badge of identity is the distinctly Canary Island character of its food and drink.
If you book the cable car + audio guide ticket, the Teide Legend app is included with your purchase, and it features detailed audio recordings so you can enjoy the exhibition in any of the audio guide’s 8 languages.
Teide Tour: the most rewarding excursion to ascend Mount Teide by cable car

Please remember that it is prohibited to make fire, make loud noises, stray from the signposted paths, feed the animals, or to camp.

Reviews
Perfect.
A szállás a város központjában van, gyalog is mindenhez közel: boltokhoz, éttermekhez, strandokhoz, tulajdonképpen 16 napon át a városlakók életének részei voltunk. Nagyon jól éreztük magunkat, a szállásadó kedves és segítőkész volt. Mindenkinek tudom ajánlani, legközelebb is szívesen mennénk oda. Egyszóval: SZUPER volt, köszönjük!
Great experience
Everything was according to my expectation.
Buying tickets shouldn't be online only. Too many people in the car so makes photography difficult. Good once I got up there! https://youtu.be/RGCAPjNoIHs?si=gy_w3a3pDMW4iHIS

Everything was great
Máme jen pozitivní dojem , jak z přístupu zaměstnanců , tak z de Teide. Nádherná oblast. Jen 1 hodina na hoře nestačí.
It was a very nice experiaence.
It is the third time I take this cable car. Aleays amazing
It is great experiance.
Nice
Wear shoes with thick soles as there are lots of stones.
Too expensive
super program, you have to see!
The organization was excellent, everything went smoothly, the views were wonderful.
Very practical installation, very clean toilet and surroundings. On the other hand, it’s a shame that the last one is so early when everything closes late in Spain. Even sadder that the shop closed before we finished the last descent... When you come from very far away it’s a little frustrating, fortunately the amazing landscapes makes up for it all.
...
perfect
Amazing trip!
Very organized
amazing
Simple, clear and short procedure. Love it!
Very nice
It was great.
"With just a couple of hours' notice, we were informed that routes 7 and 10 were closed at the peak. Naturally, we had no opportunity to cancel the tickets we had already purchased. Thus, we proceeded with our ascent and descent regardless."
👍👍👍
Great views on a clear day.
Super!
Everything was perfect!
Was cool
The hike was beautiful, but the young woman checking the permits at the gate for the final ascent was extremely unfriendly and rude, as was the guide who extremely brutally yelled at another tourist at the summit for stepping two meters down to pick up a hair clip that she had dropped accidentally. These two people should in my view be severely reprimanded and relocated to different jobs where they do not interact with people.
Everything was perfect
I bought the tickets only for the return cabin and I was very disappointed and angry when only after the payment you communicate the last cabin run at 13.50 pm. Nowhere is written the hours and nobody know that. Very bad thing in a beautiful day. I'm really sorry of that inconvenience. I payed 44 euros...not nuts.
Same as the ascend,no issues, everything smooth and we'll organized
Shocking that you cannot buy a bottle of water at 4:50PM , even though they promised on Google that restaurant will be open until 6:30PM.
No complaints, the cable car came quick enough.
Worth seeing
Too many dark patterns to try to ***** into more expensive options. For a national park this is a total *****
I climbed to the top at 5:15. The cable car closing time on the website was 6pm. I was denied entry saying it was closed already. 12 other people had done the same and had to climb down in the dark with their ticket never being refunded. Bad information and no care about their customers. 0/10
Great
Without a doubt a wonderful experience. We were all also really impressed with the cafe on our return. Excellent, efficient and friendly service. Thank you!!
Great
We were not able to book descent cable car until 10 o'clock but other tours could be booked on the day of our hike. This made us wait before we could start the hike as there is less data connectivity up the mountain
good
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great, nice views and experience.
We took the funicular and walk on a guided tour with the local guide, ***. She was a very good presenter of vulcano and surroundings. Very pro guide!
there was indeed no queue; the guide was nice; I would have liked to have some more time on top; the 1 - 1,5 h timeframe you have is pretty tight.
Good

Very well organised timed tickets. We were able to park at the cable car base. It is very busy. We did the guided Pico Veijo guided visit. Fantastic scenery and views above the clouds. Pedro was a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable. Wear a hat, good footwear.
Excellent service, amazing guide
Great experience. Didn’t really need the Guide unless you want to info re the volcano etc
Amazing to be able to see inside the crater.
Unique place and very well organised. I would not recommend to people with fear of heights. Otherwise really cool place with breathtaking views
Definitely must go, guide gave us Lot of interesting information
Everything perfect!
Was beautiful weather and amazing views from top of volcano Teide
Beautiful landscape. Breathtaking view
Nice service and smooth experience.
I have already written something. This website is enerving.
A very enjoyable experience by everyone in our party. Would do it again and go on one of the other paths.

Easy buying, if the cable car doesn't work you get email. The walk on the top on your own speed.
great experience and beautiful view
Good viewing
Would have been batter with a little more room in the cable car - we were rammed in like sardines.
Excellent staff at site, very helpful, well organised. Glad we hired a car to visit . Scenery is amazing with lots of well signed stopping points
Great Nature
Effective
No quequing at all, I was on time and I could embark the cable car.
Well managed, courteous and helpful staff.
Xxx
We bought two tickets for the volcano sunset tour, which we wanted to return, which according to the website, is possible until 6 pm the day before. We were three minutes late due to a bad internet connection, but the system allowed and accepted the redemption, however, citing the expired deadline, they do not want to refund the money. In the end, we bought two new tickets for this program, which started at 18:10 instead of the announced 17:30 departure, and instead of the promised two hours, it was just over an hour, including the lift time.
Poor & disappointing. Not good value for money.
Would have been better if we could have gone to the end of the trail for the sunset
The guide was amazing. The top of the volcano itself is incredibly beautiful
nice view (+) tour shorter than anounced (-)
It was amazing and unbelievable
Very nice experience
We loved the sunset but for us its not a real tour and for just the cablecar tickets €*** is a little too expensive. Plus the group was too big for our taste. Other than that we enjoyed the views.
Breathtaking views! One of the loveliest sunsets I've been lucky to witness. Our guide, *** (for French & German), was very friendly and funny. I'd definitely recommend catching either the sunset or the sunrise from there. It's quite windy and it gets cold pretty quickly, so bring a jumper and a jacket and even gloves, if you intend to take a lot of pictures (you will). My only problem with the location is that the toilets are closed by the time the people with sunset tickets arrive and by the time they open again, too many people are waiting in line and there's not much time left until the tour starts. If you didn't book the star gazing tour, there are quite a few parking spots around that are still dark enough so you can park your car and do your own stargazing, albeit without tue equipment.
We did the sunset tour. An absolutely brilliant experience led by the wonderfully knowledgable ***. I can highly recommend this, we will definitely do this again.
Meeting time was 17:15, start was a hour letter. It like to long 😒
It is definetely worth it to go there and see vulcano view
One of the best experiences of sunset I ever had :) highly recommend
Has a great time. Loved the tour. Highly recommend!
An amazing experience, we have really enjoyed it. Highly recommended!
Really nice trip!
It’s “must See “ on a Tenerife
A good trip well worth doing, very informative guide and Mount Teide was fascinating. Would highly recommend this trip.
Really enjoyed this trip, our guide was informative and friendly, and my family (2 adults, 2 children aged 3 and 6) had a great day visiting Mt Teide.
A good trip. The time at the upper station is limited to one hour, which was not enough for us, but I realise that this is governed by the National Park/cable car operator.
Great guide and driver, comfortable bus Beautiful location Shame we couldn’t stay at each stop longer, felt a little rushed and was slightly shorter than advertised, otherwise amazing
Excellent tour
Even though we are experienced walkers we were both hit by the effect of lower oxygen levels at 3500+ metres. Care is needed
Excellent
A very good experience overall! The bus ride was efficient and relaxed and the stops were appropriate and well-timed. We would have appreciated a bit more time at the Roqas des Garcia, 20 minutes wasn’t quite enough to take it all in! Very much enjoyed the cable car experience, even with a 5 year old (though we should have packed a few more warm clothes for him). A memorable and well-executed operation - thank you!
Excellent, experience was amazing, great amount if people, guide was fantastic as was driver.lots of knowledge was shared.great drive up scenery amazing.
Nice to be picked up next to your hotel, and brought back again.
Not enough time actually at Teide. About 10 minutes at the top after you have queued for the cable car and no time to have lunch which we had hoped to be able to do while soaking in the view. Most of the seven hours was spent on the coach
Well organised trip with timely breaks. Full time allowed up Teide followed by visit to another nearby photo opportunity. Could have better integrated the app we’d been encouraged to download for trails. Time well spent!
Excellent tour. Convenient pick up, friendly & knowledgeable guide, breakfast stop on the way, cable car tickets organised for us, enough time at the top, then a further stop at the Visitor Centre which included a film and time for lunch and more sightseeing. Guide Adrian was exceptional.
Pick up on time
Very easy to find a pick up point.
The experience was amazing now looking back at it. On the day, it would have been better if we would have been briefed about the cable car journey and told in advanced we needed proper winter clothes when up at the cable car station. The guide was ok but it was difficult to follow as there was random sentences in so many languages and it was difficult to follow the storyline if there was one.
We didn't have enough time to walk and rest. We only had one hour and 40 minutes on Teide with waiting in line and taking the cable car up and 30 min. in the Rocks. Everything was in a hurry, we had to look at the watches all the time so as not to be late. At 14 o'clock we were at home.It would be cheaper and faster to take a public bus
Very Good Experience Overall...The only thing I could say is we could have been given more time, at least 2 hours at the top of mountain to cover, at least two trails and time for coffee at the base station. We missed on one of the trails as we had to rush back. Also there was no stop for lunch break? Also it says 7 hours but we were back at the hotel much before that? I thought it was full day Tour.
As provided on the previous screen.
Pick up location close to hotel, excellent information about pick up etc, guide phoned to inform of slight delay in collection. Guide was very informative and agreeable tour was interesting with sufficient rest stops. Exposition at cable car not our thing but good for kids. Didn’t check out visitor centre but trail was a nice walk dropped off in good time.
Amazing view, perfect location and organization !
Very interesting trip to the National Park with an informative guide.
The trip was advertised as half a day and we were out for 7 hours, 2 hours of which was picking up and dropping off. Going up Teide was an amazing experience but we wished we would have done it independently.
The bus was very punctual. The guide and driver were nice. The experience with the cable car was neat and I had zero problems with my visit.
Good trip and god guide who gave many useful informations.
Take warm clothing and beware the altitude
Great views, just shame about the pickup journey hours driving around all the pickups
Very good. A bit pricey but nice
