Facing the Tagus River and built on seven hills, charming Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world. It offers unique tram rides, intimate Fado performances, great dining venues and much more.
The city is famous for its districts: the Belém's famous monuments; the Alfama's labyrinthine streets, bars and small shops; and the trendy Alcântara's docks. Lisbon’s most popular nightlife and shopping venues are located in Bairro Alto, while the traditional heart of the city beats rhythmically in the Baixa.
Enjoy a walk in the greenery of Jardim Botânico, admire the architecture of the Jerónimos Monastery or explore Feira da Ladra flea market. The Chiado area serves the city's best traditional Portuguese food. No meal is complete without some famous pastéis de nata!
Getting to the city centre is only a metro or bus ride from Lisbon Portela Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel, a friendly guesthouse or a cosy apartment, Booking.com has plenty of accommodations for your holiday in Lisbon.

I was there for four days and spent most of my time walking or using public transport. The ubiquitous trams and buses are inexpensive if you get a day pass and can get you pretty well anywhere you want to go. If walking, be prepared for hilly ups and downs - not much of Lisbon is flat!
If you want to visit St. George's Castle, be prepared for long queues! Likewise, the famous tram 28 ride (if you plan to ride to the end and back it's worth waiting for the next tram rather than standing - most seats are taken by sight seers not planning to get off so you may end up standing all the way).

It is a beautiful historical town with modern areas developing. People are nice and soft spoken though hard to communicate if you do not know Portugees.
City has lot of narrow lanes, going down or up hundreds of feet. Lot of natural beauty though too much tourism and city is not kept clean or updated. Lot of historic Churches, Places, monuments. Ride on Tuk Tuk is a fun and one can see the whole city on it before choosing what really they want to go into. Tuk Tuk drivers are good guides of the town and many are cooperative to your needs. Tip them well and they will be your best friend on the trip.
If you book a trip from Lisbon to Sintra, Castle and other cathedral. It is OK nothing so great or scenic. You have to walk a lot on it. If you take private taxi be careful that you do not put yourself in a time limit as lot of time is wasted in going, traffic and lines to the monuments. We did not realize it and had a big discussion on it. Also how you pay by cash or by credit card right in advance. Paying by credit card if you are a non Portugees is best for conversion rate and pay always in Euro not in your native currency ( $, or any other).

Lisbon has retained much of the old world charm from 200 years ago. The decorative paving along most city sidewalks and in plazas references the history and geography of this hilly city. The core of the city is peppered with historic sites and neighbourhoods that are easily accessed and explored on foot and by tram, train and metro. Visitor services such as pedestrian elevators, funiculars and stairways facilitate the exploration, and numerous eateries provide convenient, picturesque places to rest and enjoy the views. The half hour walk down Avenida de Liberdade toward the Praça do Comércio at the waterfront was a favourite stroll for taking in the modern to the historic sights, especially the lovely cobbled Praça Rossio.

Amazing city, lots of great sights near each other for a great extended weekend but equally we stayed 6 days and could have stayed a couple longer! Fun (if steep) old cobbled streets to wander, beautiful views and amazing history - we especially enjoyed Sintra, the tile museum and walking the coast of cascais.

Loved staying in Bairro Alto with easy access to sights and restaurants. Did not expect the Disney World size crowds at major tourist sites in mid-May. The lines at the Jeronimos monastery were impossible. The Maritime Museum was less crowded and worth it, as well as the tile museum (take a Bolt there). Getting to Sintra was difficult due to lack of instructions in the railway station and long lines to defunct ticket machines. The train was overstuffed. Peña palace was way overcrowded but the steep hike down nice. When using Bolt in Sintra, beware you loose the connection with the server because of the hills and your driver won’t find you but you will get charged anyway with an extra wait fee.
Our flight was cancelled and we had to book a hotel in Lisbon overnight- couldn’t have stayed in a better place! The staff were so lovely and warm, the bed was extremely comfortable for our aching bodies, and we were chuffed with the slippers and bathrobes! After an exhausting day sorting out new flights and accommodation, we got the best night’s sleep ever thanks to the lovely bed! The location is fab, very central and we were able to potter around Lisbon to see the sights while waiting to go to the airport. Would definitely recommend.
HIstoric accommodations in the heart of old Lisbon; excellent location for walking to sights and restaurants. Modern design in old building; tasteful and beautiful. The breakfast provided, the extra efforts the staff went to in order to make our stay a warm welcome was really what sets this small, luxury boutique hotel apart from any other we've stayed in. Coming back at the end of a day of exploring, being offered a glass of wine; chatting with other guests .. it felt like coming home. HIghly recommend. Would love to return.
We stayed in the room with the small private garden. We really enjoyed our stay. The communal rooms look cozy and there is an kitchen (fully equipped Incl fridge etc) if you want to do your own cooking (we didn’t use it). It is not a hotel, so no reception. You receive login codes for the different entrances, works great. Best way to get here from the airport is with an Uber. (Airport to alfama just below 7 euros during our visit). It saves you walking up and down Lisbon’s famous steep cobble stones with your luggage.
Fantastic location - although I was in Lisbon for work, I still had tourist inclinations. The hotel could not be better placed for access to everything in the area a tourist would demand. I paid a little extra for an upgrade and it was worth every penny. The very quiet room had an “office” area and a fantastic shower in the bathroom. There wasn’t much to see through the windows, but I was there to walk around.
One of the best breakfasts ever. More a boutique hotel with some facilities, but a wonderful stay.
Wonderful boutique hotel in the center of Lisbon. The ladies at reception were very nice, at the breakfast as well. The room is nicely decorated, bathroom and bed clean and comfortable. The breakfast is served in their little roof top which is nice (inside and outside seating). Sufficient choice for breakfast and everything freshly prepared.
The lift is a plus when traveling with large suitcase. Another plus is the little shop right next door with the best pasteis de nata and delicious sandwiches.
Best experience to discover Lisbon. The property is impressive, in an old Palace. The staff is focused on every single small detail to make the stay a wonderful experience. Room was very very comfortable, the tailor made breakfast every morning absolutely terrific. The hotel has one of the best rooftop of the city and the view is to die for. The location is perfectly , beautiful view of the old city and the river and so close by to all the action.
I will definetely go back again in the future.
The staff was amazing. The room was a good size and the food was well prepared. I have stayed in a few 5 star hotels and although this hotel is not the Ritz or Intercontinental, but it has personality. The staff is extremely helpful and makes you feel welcome, not just another guest. The gym is small but capable. The hotel massage was wonderful (highly recommended). Recommend this hotel for visiting Lisbon. Will definitely be back.
The staff are amazing, especially Martini, who goes out of his way to make every guest feel welcome and special. The position is unbeatable and should get 11/10. It's right in the very best heart of Lisbon. You are also just a few meters away from the Metro Restadoudoris. Take the metro from the airport 1.50€.. Don't come expecting a 5* hotel, but rather a boutique hostel with a 5* vibe. Highly recommended.
I loved the staff! They were amazing! Soo friendly, I traveled alone and they would help me with tourists spots to visit in the day. Accommodated my diet at breakfast and dinner.
The hotel facilities were amazing! Luster hotel and the team are 5 star ⭐️, top tier and made it one of the best vacations I have had!
Plus the bar is brilliant! Best cocktails🍹 you will ever drink! 💕💕💕💕💕💕😘
Just about anything - in particular the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. I travel extensively (at least pre-Covid) but how you are treated in this hotel is par to the best 5 stars in the world. An extra thanks to the bartender (whose name I do not remember but who introduced me to amazing wines) and the two ladies who did the free guided tours, Mrs. Silvestre and Mrs. Guitana.
Exceptionally clean, extremely spacious, and beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They would reach out to me via WhatsApp to make sure I had everything I needed. Keyless entry made check in very easy. I would absolutely stay here again in Lisbon. Best aparthotel I’ve ever rented jn Europe and my mom and grandma both agreed :)
Located at the heart of the centre , easy to reach the sea, main squares, shops, tram station....
Beds were extremely comfortable, rooms were perfect and the staff worked their best in helping us with all our requests - they managed to prepare our room for an early check in as well !
My friend & I agree this hotel could be rated as 5 star hotel :)
Super nice and helpful team. Changed my room as I asked and I was allowed to checkout later what was very convenient.
As I know, breakfast is not often option in Lisbon’s hotels. In Hotel Capital breakfast was rich enough 👍
And the best is location! 30 minutes away from the Airport (by bus or metro) and city center (by foot).
1. Apartment style rooms with 5 star luxury
2. Staff were amazing so welcoming and accommodating
3. Pool beds were fantastic and waiter service at pool area
4. Location ideal. Walk to coast or taxi to town. 10mins to airport
5. All hotel features were superb. It was like walking into a hotel of the Future in terms of tech
The staff were very helpful as I had injured my leg and couldn’t walk properly. They gave me ice and a dish to put in ankle.
The omelettes for breakfast were 5 star hotel quality. The best omelettes cooked with a fantastic smile by our Colombian chef. Such a great cook.
Excellent location. Staff was exceptional and so helpful. Best hotel I’ve stayed in Portugal. Beds were comfortable and small details like cold water in the fridge made the stay comfortable. Daily cleaning which is not the norm anymore - very appreciative of this luxury
Very polite staff specially Paula, she was very helpful and courteous, hotel is centrally located, breakfast was good, metro is just below, parking was never a problem, overall it's the best place to stay while in Lisbon.
If i ever gave 5 stars to a hotel, I didn't know what I was talking about.
This has been the best hotel I have been to, the beds felt like sleeping on clouds, and the room was spacious and comfy.
I highly recommend this Hostel to stay for your next trip to the fascinating and lively city of Lisbon. It’s like a 5 star hotel without the expensive price.
